Mr. KONO Taro, Minister for Digital Transformation, delivered a keynote speech at the Masters of Digital 2023

On March 8 and 9, 2023, DIGITAL EUROPE hosted its annual event of “Masters of Digital in 2023” with an audience of over 2,000 people, and on the second day of the event, Minister Kono participated online from Japan and delivered a keynote speech.

In the keynote speech, Minister Kono shared the vision of human-centric digitalization of Japan, the importance of the Data Free Flow of Trust (DFFT), including potential results he aims to achieve at the G7 Digital and Tech Ministers’ Meeting in Gumma, Takasaki, which Japan chairs this year, and the importance of ensuring trust as a public good through technology and promoting initiatives for data flows.
In addition, Minister Kono stated that the “Japan-EU Digital Partnership” was established during the Japan-EU Summit in May 2022 and that in our changing international environment with a crisis such as Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, it became more important for Japan and Europe, which share values, to deepen cooperation in various fields, and that he expected to create synergies through this digital partnership.
Subsequent speakers mentioned their support for the efforts to promote DFFT as communicated by Minister Kono.
