On January 9, twenty twenty-five, Mr. Taira, Minister for Digital Transformation, conducted an AI Ideathon and an inspection tour of Uwajima City in Ehime prefecture.
This AI Ideathon is positioned as the second round following the AI Ideathon and Hackathon , which was conducted in cooperation with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in November 2024. We held an AI Ideathon entitled "Public-Private Partnership AI Ideathon to Create Local Government Business Flow in 2030" in Uwajima City to discuss the utilization of generated AI that will be useful for local government business in the future.
In addition, in Uwajima City, we are focusing on promoting DX by opening "Tete City Hall," a platform that centralizes administrative procedures that can be processed online, and implementing monitoring support and remote medical care for the elderly.
AI Ideathon inspection
Discussions were held on "Utilization of AI that contributes to EBPM" and "Utilization of AI in counter operations" from the perspective of the three parties: the national government, local governments, and local government core vendors.

Workshop
In the AI Ideathon workshop, we clarified the current framework of administrative work on the utilization of generated AI that contributes to EBPM, and discussed whether AI can be substituted and why it cannot be substituted.
Regarding the use of AI in counter operations, we discussed how to use AI to solve problems in order to alleviate citizens' problems that the necessary procedures are diverse and the system is difficult to understand, and to reduce the burden on employees who examine and consult citizens.
In addition, Minister Taira commented on the expectations and challenges for the realization of the idea of utilizing AI, which is essential for maintaining and improving administrative services amid the worsening shortage of staff due to the declining population, which emerged in the AI Ideathon after the workshop.
