The Government of Japan has decided on policies for efforts toward the digitalization of payment of public funds to local governments.

1. Overview

With the participation of relevant ministries and agencies, the ministries and agencies Liaison Conference was held in Digital Agency and Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications at the end of last year to discuss efforts toward digitalization of public money payment to local governments. On March 30 this year, the "Guidelines for Efforts toward digitalization of Public Money Payment to local governments" was decided, which set forth efforts to enable local governments to utilize eLTAX for public money payment.
