Revision of the "List of Ciphers to be Referred for procurement in E-Government (CRYPTREC Cipher List)"

Digital Agency, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry are evaluating cryptographic technologies used in e-government through CRYPTREC activities. We are pleased to announce that we have revised the "List of Ciphers to Be Referred for procurement in E-Government (CRYPTREC Cipher List)."
1. Overview
Comments on the "List of Ciphers to Be Referred to for procurement in E-Government (CRYPTREC Cipher List)" (draft) prepared by Digital Agency, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, and METI through the activities of the CRYPTREC * were invited from Thursday, March 9, 2023 to Thursday, March 23, 2023. Four comments were submitted. The comments and the views of Digital Agency, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, and METI are as shown in Attachment 1.
In addition, based on the results of the public comment, we have formulated a revised version of the "List of Ciphers to Be Referred for procurement in E-Government (CRYPTREC Cipher List)" as shown in Attachment 2.
* CRYPTREC is an abbreviation of Cryptography Research and Evaluation Committees. It is a project to evaluate and monitor the security of e-government recommended ciphers, and to investigate and examine the appropriate implementation and operation methods of cryptographic technologies. It consists of the Cryptographic Technology Review Committee, which is jointly operated by Digital Agency, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the Cryptographic Technology Evaluation Committee and the Cryptographic Technology Utilization Committee, which are jointly operated by the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (N development) and the Information-Technology Promotion Agency (IPA).
