The competent minister approved the use of Japanese Public Key Infrastructure for private sector (Skycom, Inc.)

On March 27, 2025, based on the provisions of Article 17, Paragraph 1, Item 6 of the Act on Japan Agency for Local Authority Information Systems Certification Business Relating to Electronic Signatures, etc. (Act No. 153 of 2002), SKYCOM Inc. was certified by the competent minister as a business operator that meets certain criteria necessary for using Japanese Public Key Infrastructure.
About Japanese Public Key Infrastructure
Japanese Public Key Infrastructure is a public service that uses electronic certification stored in My Number Card to prevent impersonation, falsification, and denial of transmission, and enables identity verification and online application on the Internet.
Competent Minister's Approval of private sector
In private sector, anyone who has been certified by the competent minister as a person who meets certain standards for system security and other matters can use the system. To date, 21 companies have been certified by the competent minister.

In addition, in order to promote the expansion of the use of Japanese Public Key Infrastructure, the "Platform Operator" program has been established as a mechanism to make it possible to use private sector cheaply and easily.
Services provided by Skycom Inc.
When using "SkySign ®," an electronic contract service provided by Skycom Inc., an electronic signature can be granted using a signature My Number Card stored in the electronic certification.
In the past, when signing a contract on paper, it was necessary to affix a seal or submit a certificate of a seal impression. However, this can be replaced with an electronic signature by My Number Card (paperless), making it possible to immediately sign a contract online.
