Japan ranked first in the eParticipation Index, a United Nations ranking of e-government.

In the eParticipation Index, which is conducted together with the e-Gov eGovernment Development Index (EGDI), a comprehensive evaluation of e-Government, a survey is conducted on all 193 member states of the UN in the three fields of e-information, e-consultation, and e-decision-making, and the ranking is published every two years.
Japan took first place, up from fourth place in the previous survey. It was praised for its efforts on open data, for creating an entrance to a "dialogue" with the people of Japan using a platform to collect opinions and ideas, for its leadership, and for reflecting the opinions received in the plan.
(The EGDI, which is an overall evaluation of e-government, will be 14th, which is classified in the same top group as the previous time).
