Minister for Digital Transformation Kohno inspected the validation in the Technology demonstration experiments Project

On December 18, 2023, Minister for Digital Transformation Kono visited a validation held in Inagi City, Digital Agency, regarding the Technology demonstration experiments Project being undertaken by Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
Digital Agency is implementing the Technology regulations on paper and in-person processes Project to confirm the security and effectiveness of technology across ministries and agencies in reviewing the so-called validation, which requires people to directly see and work at the site. As a result of the open recruitment of business operators, 32 projects, including start-ups and large companies, have been selected, and demonstration experiments and other projects using various digital technologies are being held in various places.
Of these 32 projects, Kohno Minister for Digital Transformation visited demonstration experiments, which aims to rationalize periodic surveys and inspections of buildings and efficiency by using drones, wearable devices, etc., by the SOHGO SECURITY SERVICES CO.,LTD..
Experience the use of digital technology
Currently, periodic surveys and inspections of buildings are conducted by qualified persons such as architects and building investigators, who visit the site to inspect the status of age-related degradation of buildings, mainly by visual inspection and sounding. In demonstration experiments, which I visited this time, by using drones, smart glasses, and other devices to transmit local images and sound in real time to qualified persons in remote locations, we made a validation on whether qualified persons can perform the necessary inspections without visiting the site. Minister for Digital Transformation Kono also wore smart glasses used for demonstration experiments and experienced piloting drones.
After the visit, in response to an interview from a reporter, he said, "I think there will be some hesitation when we switch to a new method (of work at the site), but considering the current labor shortage, I think it is necessary to take a bold step forward. I would like to abolish regulations on paper and in-person processes more and more and prepare for new things to be done if technology advances."
