We conducted a demonstration in My Number Card using the "My Number Card Face-to-Face Identification App," which can read the IC chips of private business and confirm that they are genuine tickets at the time of face-to-face identification.

Demonstration Overview
In response to a case in which a My Number Card with a forged ticket face was used for identity verification, we are promoting the scanning of IC chips on cards for stricter identity verification.
This "My Number Card Face-to-Face Confirmation App" is used by downloading the app to the smartphone of the operator.
By reading the card's face information * 1 with a camera and OCR * 2, it is possible to confirm the identity of the user using an IC chip without requiring the user to enter a personal identification number (4-digit PIN).
In response to the demonstration, we will officially release the app in late August 2024, and we will work with related ministries and agencies to make it available for download by businesses in need.
* 1: Information on the date of birth, expiration date (in the Christian era), and security code (a combination of information called reference number B) printed on the ticket
* 2: If OCR is not available, manual input is also possible (PIN input is not supported).
